My Talented Daughter

May 10, 2009

My 16 year old daughter really likes lions.  She also really likes Photoshop, and photography in general.  So it goes without saying that dad is really proud of her accomplishments.

Here are two wonderful poster sized images that she created which she is having printed into framed sets for Mother’s Day.

Our Neighborhood

April 30, 2009

This is a shot of the man made lake in the middle of our housing development, aka Sunnymead Ranch.  I believe it might might have originally been called Poorman’s Lake, based on older photos of the area that I’ve seen in the past.

It’s actually a nice little place to live–for three of the seasons of the year anyway.  The summers can be a little oppressive when it gets into the upper 90s and 100s.

This is another HDR-crafted image. Many thanks to the talented photographer Trey Ratcliff, for providing detailed instruction and inspiration on his web site, Stuck in Customs.  Check it out!

Vegas, Baby!

April 29, 2009

During the week of April 20, my daughter Kelcey and I attended the annual National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) convention in Las Vegas.  During the day, I involved myself with the business of the day; researching equipment for the cable TV company that I work for.   The evenings however were taken up experimenting with my new hobby, HDR photography.

This shot is of the front of the Monte Carlo Hotel and Casino at sunset, and is one of a series of images that I took.  I’ll add more images in later posts.

Painting for a New Bedroom Look

April 12, 2009

Kelcey Perry hard at work putting the finishing touches on her bedroom.  The room is taking on a lavender motif after years of drab off-white.

Good for you, girlie!
